Give your players a pen. Books they write in, pages they tear out, papers they
pin on any wall, and notice boards the whole town reads. Four languages,
interface included.
### Your server writes its own stories
Most servers hand players a chat box and hope for roleplay. LS Notes hands them
paper. A wanted poster nailed to the sheriff's door. A missing-horse notice on
the saloon wall. A diary found on a body, with somebody else's name signed into
the cover. None of it is written by you - it is written by them, and it stays in
the world.
\
### The book
A real notebook, not a text box: cover, clickable index, back cover - and
**pages that bend as they turn.** The sheet creases, folds back over itself and
shows its own reverse, the way paper really behaves. The covers do not bend: a
bound board is rigid and swings on the spine.
The page engine is ours, written from scratch. No jQuery, no page-flip library,
nothing third-party running in the interface - and no licence to buy on top of
this one.
- Bold, italic, underline, alignment, font and size, page titles, and an
optional signature - a player can write **anonymously** and their name never
leaves the server.
- Photographs: paste a direct image link and it lands on the page in a polaroid
frame, draggable anywhere on the sheet. Whitelist the hosts, or switch images
off entirely.
- Writing costs ink. No pen, no writing.
- **The book has an owner.** Whoever signs first is written into the cover and
the back plate, and the name can never be changed again - not by them, not by
whoever picks it up later.
- Six covers out of the box, and the owner can change the one on *their* book.
A new theme is half a dozen colours in the CSS.
\
### Paper that leaves the book
Tear a page out and it becomes an inventory item: readable, tradeable,
droppable, pinnable. Beyond the plain notebook there are job-restricted books
for marriage certificates, hunting and boat licences, gun permits and law
records - each with its own paper, prop and rules.
And you can **invent your own without opening a file.** The admin panel creates
a book type from scratch - the item, the paper it produces, the pages, the ink,
the prop, the jobs, the cover - saves it on top of the config, and registers the
inventory items on the spot.
\
### Pin it anywhere
Placement mode casts a ray from your camera: the sheet snaps flat against the
surface, then you adjust it by hand - move, raise, rotate, tilt, roll. It stays
there for everyone.
**And it does not cost you a server.** A pinned note only exists as an object
while somebody is near it. Hundreds of notes scattered across the map do not
mean hundreds of live props. Give notices an expiry and old paper falls apart on
its own instead of piling up forever.
\
### Notice boards
Fixed points - the sheriff's board, the saloon, the town hall - where papers
gather into a list instead of being nailed on top of each other. The prompt
shows how many papers are on it, so players can tell from a distance whether it
is worth stopping.
- **Placed in game.** The admin panel puts boards into the world, moves them,
hides them and edits every setting, without touching a file or restarting.
What the panel saves sits on top of the config, which is never modified.
- Players post the loose papers they carry, the pages of the books they carry,
or a **link poster** - an image address that goes straight up as a poster, for
art made outside the game.
- The board can wear a picture of the real prop, day and night - or no picture
at all, in which case it is drawn entirely in CSS: planks, nails and the torn
remains of old posters.
\
### Rules that hold up
- Who may post and who may take other people's papers: by job, by VORP group,
or both.
- If you run **LS Admin**, admin powers here follow its duty mode. Off duty, an
admin obeys the board rules like everybody else.
- **Copying costs a page.** A copy is torn out of your own book, so a hunting
licence can only be copied into the hunting licence book - which is what stops
an official document multiplying without going through whoever issues it.
- A link poster is never a document, and whoever pins it decides whether copies
may be taken.
\
### Built to be sold to, not just bought
- **4 languages** - EN / PT / ES / FR, interface included, not just the chat
messages.
- **No third-party art.** The whole interface is CSS. You are not copying fonts,
images or sounds out of somebody else's resource - and there is room for your
own art if you want it.
- **Two commands for the one support ticket you will get.** Not every RedM
client renders a menu the same way. `/notescheck` tells a player whether the
interface images reached them, and `/notesplain` switches the menu to flat
colours for a weak client. That is a ten-second answer instead of an argument.
- **Open where it matters** - the three config files, the languages, the
interface and the custom hook files are all outside the escrow.

### Requirements
- **LS_lib** - free, ours, on this store
- vorp_core, vorp_inventory, oxmysql
Tables and inventory items are created on first start. Drop it in, start it,
hand someone a book.
